Meet the Trainer
Lauren Whittemore has been training dogs for over a decade—from search and rescue dogs to household pets. Her passion is helping dogs become valued members of the community by building strong partnerships between dogs and their humans.
Lauren earned a BA from the University of Colorado in Biology, with a focus on Animal Behavior. Her master’s work in the Wildlife Management Department of Colorado State University focused on behavior as well. During her academic career and former career as a wildlife biologist, Lauren acquired a diverse background in the science of animal behavior.
As a search and rescue dog handler with Front Range Rescue Dogs since 1997, Lauren has helped train many other search dog teams along the way. She is a past President and current Vice President in charge of training and testing for the group. She currently has a certified wilderness airscent dog and another dog in training for airscent, water search, and human remains detection.
Lauren is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and the International Association of Canine Professionals. She is continuously increasing her knowledge and skills by attending seminars and conferences with the best trainers in the country. Her training history includes education from legends Bob Bailey, Leslie Nelson, Terry Ryan, Trish King, Steve White, and Martin Deeley.
